Mike Lambert

Mike Lambert

A dedicated musician, community organizer and educator, music has been a
central focus of Mike’s life since he can remember.  Hooked on rhythm and
melody since before he could talk, his musicianship began at age 7 with
classical piano before that gave way to playing by ear and improvised
grooves in rock bands from the late 80s to mid 90s.  But playing keys
ended up taking a back seat to the throbbing bass of the Toronto rave
scene in 1995.   DJing with a wide variety of rhythms and textures since
1999, Mike has performed alongside some of the world’s top talent over the
years including Andy Huges (The Orb), Akufen, Fred Everything, Boo
Williams, Jonah Sharp (Spacetime Continuum), Deadbeat, Dubtribe, Shpongle
and countless others.  In 2002 he teamed up with Toronto’s multi-talented
Jonah K to form Dickard and Bobert, performing on four turntables, turning
heads and shakin’ booties.  After playing countless gigs across Canada as
well as shows in the U.S. and Mexico, Mike relocated to Taipei, Taiwan in
2008 where he has been spreading his unique blend of minimal, funky techno
and house.  He is currently back and forth between North America and Asia,
playing gigs all over the place!

Mike is also a founder and organizer of Sumkidz, organizing Canada’s
seminal Om Summer Solstice Festival, as well many other multidisciplinary
arts and education events. As an educator he has been teaching elementary
and middle school for the Toronto District Board since 2004 and is now
also teaching in Taipei.
